December in California

From first glance, it probably looks like these photos were taken over the summer. For starters, they're taken in the un-creative spot of my backyard, where all of my photos over the summer were taken. Most importantly, though, is the very obvious detail that my legs are bare. Forgive me for talking about the weather again, but I didn't just go from snow to palm trees; I went from snow to 80 degrees. I have to admit that I wasn't all that prepared. I packed tights and boots, figuring I could just forgo a coat, but bare legs? It's getting a little more difficult to remember that it's Christmas time here in Orange County.

Obviously I can't complain too much, seeing as I'm in beautiful weather with next to no responsibilities for the next few weeks. It was a busy semester (aren't they all?), which makes sleeping in and bumming around all day even sweeter. I wish I had more to write about other than weather, laziness, and Christmas shopping, but that's basically my life right now. I'm supposed to attend a special screening of a movie in L.A. today with my best friend who works for a marketing firm, but I'll wait until after to fill you all in. I'm still convinced that it's too good to be true, and there's no way I'm actually that lucky to get to see one of my favorite actors in person. We shall see.

I can't say that there's anything too exciting about this outfit, but I still love it. I got this shirt during a huge sale a few months ago, but haven't gotten around to taking photos in it until now. It's a great piece, and as an added bonus, this skirt is one of the most comfortable items I own. It's my version of sweatpants, which means I may never take it off.

  1. Some warm weather sounds AMAZING right now. I'd take that or some snow actually. No more of this cold cloudy business, thank you! I hope you have an amazing time at home. I so miss having extended breaks and am super envious of your weeks off!

  6. Lucky you, spending winter in sunny California! It snowed in DC and I was such a wimp about it, I refused to go outside to take pictures haha.

Oh, I'm interested to know what movie you went to go see, Her? I'm in the entrainment industry and love this stuff.

  14. So so cute!! I love the pop of color from your shoes :D

Haha I feel so weird dressing up like usual while the rest are all layered up in winter clothing. There's just no snow over here.

  15. I actually think I saw that shirt during the sale. I really love the print. It could go with so many different things!
Also your bare legs in December remind me of Georgia weather except we'll just get 70 degrees one day and then three days later it's in the 40s. It's very inconsistent! December should always be sweater weather, I think!

  16. Elana! I'm on my way back to (Northern) California and while I can't imagine it will be 80 degrees, over Thanksgiving I wore tights and was so so hot outside. Three cheers for California! I can't even wrap my brain around that kinda weather (though when I left Nashville we were having crazy weird thunderstormy tornado scary movie weather). I have a "sweatskirt" too that I loooove. Such a sneaky way to wear sweats.

Can't wait to hear that story about the movie!

  17. Sooooo jealous that you aren't even wearing tights! In New York the weather is so frigid that being bare legged would produce a loooooot of stares, haha! But I really am so jealous that you can rock a mini skirt in December.
