#GoodNewsProject

If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably saw that I started a new project. I wanted to talk a little bit more about it in detail though. I've written a lot about how I'm committed to getting back to blogging and social media, but I haven't really gone into detail as to why. For a while now, I've been kind of a bummer. My living situation has been unstable and, frankly, terrible for the past year; I love the people I work with and my bosses, but I work in customer service so I'm more than a little drained from dealing with terrible people on the phone all day; I work an early shift, which means that I'm exhausted from waking up at 4 a.m. every day; I just...well, I haven't felt like myself in a long time. My boyfriend, friends, and family have been incredibly supportive and wonderful, but I still haven't been able to help feeling down for a long time.

Rather than keep feeling sorry for myself, I decided that the one thing that was missing was a creative outlet. The blogging and social media communities have been so kind to me, and they're where I turn to for creative inspiration and motivation. So in addition to blogging more (which is a thing that genuinely makes me happy), I've also started an Instagram project, called #GoodNewsProject. With this, I'm going to be sharing the good news that I have so that I can focus on the positive things in my life. I need to do something for mental health, and I think this is a good start. It's essentially a way for me to say, you know what? Sure, I'm grumpy from waking up so early, but hey, the good news is that it's Friday. Well, at least it was I started this. You get the idea.

I don't know how long or how often I'm going to be doing this, but I'm excited. I'd also love for others to join in, so whether you're having a bad day or just really excited to share something, please feel free to do the same and tag #GoodNewsProject. I would love to have all of you helping me to focus on the joyful things, and I'll gladly share your posts on my blog and Instagram.

I was really worried that this would seem stupid, but I also don't care. You all have been so kind about this, and I'm really looking forward to it. So good news today, guys: I've started a project.

  4. I actually really love this, and quite frankly, good news is something I should focus on more. I tend to get stressed and focus on the negative.

  5. I somehow missed some of your posts (until now) detailing your awful living situation and I am so sorry! That's awful. It's basically a roommate nightmare of what people warn you about. But I'm glad you finally found some more stable people to live with. I've been waking up at 4am for years. It's...hard. I did adjust eventually. Now I do a pretty good job at making it through the day. A lot of it is learning to balance your life/work/sleep/etc. Naps REALLY helped me 'till I was able to fully adjust to a new schedule. Some days are of course harder to deal with. But you'll get there. ANYWAYS, I love your little project and am excited to see it prosper over the next few months. I'm also very glad you didn't give up on blogging because it really is a great place to build a community and help yourself feel better. Don't let shitty things keep you down when there are so many awesome things around you.
